xdriver=vesa got me a neat color bar thing with three progressing bars.
Dark Blue Light Blue and White. When the white one gets to the end, the
name Fedora 10 changes to white too, blips up to the center of the
screen ( changing resolutions?) and thats it. It goes no farther. I
kinda like the three bars thing but I have NO idea what it means :-)

Mandriva does the same weird thing only it has like 6 color bars in a
weird EQ pattern. Linux Mint loads the cd live, but after install it
wont load (black screen after Grub completes) The only thing that boots
fully so far after install is ZenWalk. No sound, but it completes
loading. Not sure if any of that is a clue or not.

At this point I am pretty sure its either graphical or something with
its boot hardware probing. As I said 'noprobe' worked to get me to text
install screen on Fedora 10 but then it couldn't see the CD to load so
that didn't really help.
