hi,
Thanks for the additional details how to achieve the install.
Back around FC3 or 6, I did put the iso (iso's ?) on a hard
disk, and managed to achieve an install that way with
an iso mount. kool. ( because several different CD drives
wouldn't work properly to boot-- I did manage to use a
CD drive to copy the iso to the hard disk ).
I think others may appreciate that this can be done.
It's has been a long time since I filed the original bug..
I may have filed more than one - don't remember.
It's been long since closed.
Way back when, there was what was considered the "old"
ide system to be replaced by a "new" ide system. It was in the
works for years. Sometime after I'd filed the bug report, ( probably a
year or 2 ) I emailed one of the distro people and that was when I
learned about the possible ide changeover. However, during a long
period of time, no one was "assigned" to do "ide" maintenance and as far
as I could tell - at that time - the "new" ide didn't have any effort put
into it.
That toook a looong time.
Eventually, the "new" ide was somehow accepted into the kernel..
But as usual, theres a big caveat - "older" IDE's would not be supported.
I think this may have been around the time of 1.x ghz boxes being
new. I was told that older IDE would gradually be
migrated into the new ide design.
It's been a long time, and I have no clue how it has progressed since-
except I recognized a problem with my install. Its small in the grand
scheme, but still a nuisance ....
