My HP 5MP laserjet "just worked" also.

Of course suddenly after the hardy upgrade to Ubuntu my scsi Epson 
Perfection scanner suddenly "just worked" with Xsane. I had kept it 
plugged into the computer because it worked with the Amiga/amithlon dual 
boot. One of the things (other than amiga loyalty that kept me doing the 
dual boot was that the scanner was not working under Linux. Then one day 
it did.
