It has been my experience that one SUSE version will NOT upgrade to another.
You need to do a Fresh install, even between versions X.Y and X.Z, where Z=Y+1.
SUSE seems to be in the middle of "enhancing" (dare I say Embracing and Extending?) the software installation too, and it is Broken in several senses (one being that it lacks features available in older versions).
I found that the Factory version, called 11.2, works better, but still leaves something to be desired.
Good Luck,
JIM

Subject: [Novalug] Fed Up
I "upgraded" to OpenSUSE 11.1 on my desktop machine. The upgrade went well on
my wife's computer so I figured I'd give it a shot on mine.
The repositories are totally screwed up.
After fighting with it all morning and into the afternoon without success, I
decided to pull the plug on it and go with Ubuntu. It's working just fine and
I'm copying all my documents, pictures and media files back on.
