You are getting a variety of answers. One thing that may help you is
using the Acrobat Reader. I say this, not because the open source
solutions don't work rather because when you talk with others using
Mac/M$ systems, they are likely going to be using that. If you use the
same tool, it may simplify your conversations. If you are willing and
able, I would recommend evince, kpdf or one of the many other open
