Yes.
The list's comments to my question made me think some more: perhaps all I
need is a simple template for a web page. This would have an example
of how you do the most useful things, such as refer to another web
page by clicking on a reference,
put in a picture of the right size in the right place with the
right name that you get when the mouse hovers over it. Maybe a table
under or next to a picture.
That's really all, nothing active, no blogging, really, really simple
and boring.
A long time (well, a few years) ago you could still find web pages
like this. I once copied one of those index.html files, and changed
it at will to make mine. Now, all the index.html files I looked at
recently have really long lines that don't fit comfortably in my
preferred ASCII editor (gedit), and are full of nested, esoteric commands.
Anyone have a recommendation for a simple index.html file that I can
copy?
