[Novalug] help! recovering bad hard drive data

If the drive is toast, I've had good luck with Drivesavers.com.

They aren't cheap, but they recovered the data from a disk that 
did the head-crash tango one day.

They returned the dead disk.  A modern disk platter doesn't look as
cool as the old 14" orange (iron oxide) ones did after they got that
pretty silver racing stripe, but the magnets are still great for
using on the fridge.
