[Novalug] nokia n810

Depends on what the N810 is used for. Key benefit is coat-pocket
portability, followed by a decent 800x600 screen, decent multimedia support,
and wifi/bt-to-phone connectivity. Great for general web surfing,
gmail/webmail access. Movie-viewing can be OK once you figure out the
appropriate encoding settings. Also good for mp3 playback, podcasts,
twitter while walking. coat-pocket portability is the strong suite, the
physical keyboard may be a challenge for some. Not quite as expandable in
sdhc memore as my N800 (1 slot vs 2) but pretty good. At the price, I'm
tempted but as I have an N800 (lacks keyboard, I use an outboard GPS), I'm
better off with a netbook if I want to add another PC to the collection.

Major problem is dealing with multimedia-enabled sites that expect a larger
screen or require support for some feature (video modes) that are supported
in Mac and Windows but maybe or maybe not in Linux. You have to be willing
to tinker; not as seamless an out of box experience as an iTouch or
netbook. Also, expandability is limited -there are hacks to host other USB
devices (memory, network, other interfaces) but limited vs laptops,
netbooks, and other PCs.
