[Novalug] screen resolution for an LCD screen

great question

it will be in
    /var/log/Xorg.0.log

I did this
    greg -i card /var/log/Xorg.0.log
found PCI listed
    grep PCI /var/log/Xorg.0.log
found ATI card....

There is SCreen Resolution app that will detect the display and show 
(and allow) you to change the res.
(GNOME) System -> Preferences -> Screen Resolution
