[Novalug] computers for developing (read, poor and miserable) countries

Hi,
I've heard good things about the Thinkpads, but don't have first
hand experience.

Old-slow-and-cheap - my Dell CPi just keeps on plugging.

Avoid the Dell CPx series - the keyboards wear out quickly.

  Not-so-small, I've got 3 Dell C840's that won't die. Two of them
have been running 24/7 (unless I've got them on a plane) for the past 2
or 3 years with no glitches. They run XP adequately in a VMPlayer
session under OpenSuSE or Ubuntu.

I had bad luck with the SONY Vaio I bought in '99, but I understand
they've improved things. The Toshiba I replaced it with still runs,
but isn't small or fast by modern standards.

  Clif
