OK, so you are saying that a probe returns parseable multiple 
attribute/value(s) pairs. That make more sense than "tell me your name 
and I'll look up your characteristics in a database".

But it still doesn't explain why some devices aren't being recognized 
correctly. Maybe I am just buying cheap devices (Acer LCDs). Or maybe 
the software still uses the old Model Lookup code.
