That double-damned little launcher that looks like two
staggered monitors, and that I can't remove from the panel,
*thinks* it isn't connecting. (The white X on red stays there
permanently.) It apparently tattles to gnome-packagekit; if you
can get that started, it works. Yum also works. Once I figured
what name to call OOo-writer by, yum install did the job.
What I had forgotten to mention was that Jo uses her
machine mainly to write whodunits. She used abiword for the first
one, but the masters of abiword got tired of me, and cut me off.
So I shifted her to OOo.
As of this morning, my machine BBB (the one with the
biggest hard drive) has OOo-writer and seems to have her whole
home directory. I made a DVD from it (the whole thing is only a
little over 1 GB), and will make another directly from her
machine. Then I'll try out meld, or something, and try to make
sure both are the same -- and we can put a DVD in the safe
deposit.
(And no, none is published yet. She keeps sending them to
likely-seeming agents, but we can't tell if any read them.)
