[Novalug] Intel X-25M SSD with Jaunty on Lenovo T61

This smacks of an issue which I've been fighting for some time now on
more conventional hardware - stopping HD access when my machines don't
seem to have any real need for such access.

I've hit this problem on both a desktop and a laptop. I still see
a HD access on the desktop every 5 seconds or so, and it just will
not stay in sleep mode.

The laptop did the same, but the CD light also flicked every 5 seconds.
Killing magicdev seemed to be the final problem for the CD, but the
HD gets "hit" every 30-40 seconds. The HD hit rate was much faster,
but I've deactivated a ton of processes to get to this point.

I would suggest that the powers that push SSD expend some resources
on utilities to monitor disk I/O to minimize it, or at least identify
the constant hitters.

One trick I tried was to use a USB flashdrive as swap, so I could tell
exactly when swapping was going on by the blinking flashdrive light.
Swap wasn't the problem. Next stage might be using a BIG flashdrive
and installing duplicate installs on both the HD and the FD, then
varying the mounting of different directorys to study access usage.

I do remember some io package suggested before, but it in turn
required yet another install of some software which I didn't yet
have, and I don't believe all the software was readily available for
my old junk hardware and software. Eventually, perhaps kicking and
screaming, I'll catch up to the rest of you all. :)
