Meetings are a good for face-to-face networking and experiencing a shared
social activity. I too enjoy sharing food, drink, conversation and
networking face-to-face though there are many moments when I would value an
online, well planned and presented instructional or info module on the web
-- accessible 24/7.
if there are individuals with experience with Linux, Open Source, Freeware,
systems administration, design and applications willing to go on camera and
be part of a group or series instructional multi-media, videos for the web
released under creative commons or similar license or that which is
agreeable to the participants of the individual recording sessions.
Linux and Open Source Applications and Instructional User Groups meetings at
a particular time and space serve the needs of attendees. Well planned and
produced videos on the web can serve a larger market and also credit LUGs
and their members -- if desired. Blogs and other Internet communications
tools can provide a degree of interaction that goes beyond the limits of a
single time and place venue meeting.
There are some existing video on the web instructional and info models -- I
Googled "videos of Linux user group meetings" discovering . . .

Advantages of creating a multi-camera, high quality audio, edited
instructional video -- presentations may be shot on location in an
environment the presenter is not required to move to another venue, the
cameras close ups can presents allow all viewers to get an up close view and
observe work processes.
