In this case it has a slight negative conotation. That's why I jumped
the gun a bit - sorry.

No need; spend my first 30 years of my life with that language pretty
close to heart. But the nuisances of language is lost after a little
absence.

(there's a bit German on the page, but it should be easily understood).

If you think of the word "professor" and the connotations you have if
you're called that while in HS - that's how Schlaue is to be understood
in this context.
