I've never had cable, so I need to ask a techie who does.
On my DSL modem, I can web-interface it and pull up a log
of system and connection messages. This helps me when I
contact Customer Support. Do cable modems have a similar
logging feature that users can access, and if so, does
that help when contacting cable cus-support?
