That's why I don't do "fancy" video stuff. I've found on more that one 
OS that video drivers can royally screw-up an otherwise stable system. I 
fixed a similar problem on two machines (desktop and Thinkpad) by "going 
backward" and getting rid of the fancy (cool?) video stuff. Side 
benefit: my PC runs faster. Under that other OS, as a matter of policy I 
NEVER accept volunteered updates to video drivers. I discovered that a 
balky system was cure when I went back to the original driver - it took 
a long time to find the basis for the problem. How do you spell flaky?
