[Novalug] extending the reach of in-home wireless

FIOS provides a wireless transmitter to connect to the internet,
but this is too weak to cover the whole house. I've been told
that one option to extend the wireless' reach is to get a second
(and more powerful) wireless transmittter. This would be hooked
up to one of the open ports on FIOS-supplied one.

Is that true? If so, do you have a hardware recommendation?
