Bryan,
Basically, I think we are talking the same thing. the answers to your
questions below are EXACTLY why I said "Prove it".
> "What have you done for my competitors in my industry?
> What case studies do you have or are a party to?
> What can you do for me?"

Agreed, the "proofs" are stories. Cust A has X problem, researched it and
Linux looked like it would solve X for Y dollars and Q resources (cost
savings, etc).
And, we can do the same for you and improve your bottomline by Z amount.
Its not about proof, its about people, problems, solution. I can say "Fords
are great cars" all day long but at the end of the day without proofing this
its just an empty argument.
So, in several of my recent Leadership Mgt courses, its been suggested that
when someone brings you a problem, make them also bring you a solution. (Why?
makes them have a stake in the issue, also makes them think about the bigger
picture and can make them feel part of the team).
I put a stake in the ground trying to frame this issue, you shot back "won't
work", so now its your turn to give the solution. I look forward to you
solution. I'm sure that the people doing FOSE will appreciate your solutions
as well.
Statements alone, like "Linux is really great" are just empty bags of wind.
No context or substance... (we both agree on this!!!)
