[Novalug] what are cids??

 	Several recent emails have contained lines of the form :

cid:X.MA12.1263954199 at aol.com

 	What are they? They look like email addresses; and both 
Alpine and my local access provider's web mail interface (which I 
access through epiphany or Firefox) treat them as addresses.

 	But other people on the list where they appear insist 
they are pix.
