[Novalug] STILL can't get online

So when you swapped the the PowerLine Ethernet (PE) unit from the
Shuttle to the 586 - it did not work?

     1. Was the PE device on a power strip?
     2. Was the PE device on a power cable extended? (the 586 was
        connected to a power strip & cable extender when I was there -
        both were recommended not to be used by the manufacturer )

If yes - try without these in the way .... did it work then?

      * Is your dining room on the same circuit as the one with the
        Shuttle?
      * What were the light indicators? Where they all solid lights?
        If so, the Troubleshooting Guide gave an indication about this -
        I just forget what that was. I think it meant the passwords on
        the devices may not be matching.

You ma be better off taking the LinkSys router, two PE devices, the
Shuttle and the 586 and placing them on your dining room table. Connect
everything there and test it. If they were on the same power strip, I
don't think that would be a problem. If you can get the Shuttle & the
586 configured to see the LinkSys, then you should, in theory, be able
to put them in the house cable plant and it work.

Charlie - I could continue to ask questions but without any answers, it
is hard to debug via email. Can you provide the table I suggested
before? Try the following commands (shown in bold red underlined) on
your Shuttle (at the command line):

        rich at tux:~$ cat /etc/hosts
        127.0.0.1	localhost
        127.0.1.1	tux <------- Will be your Shuttle's host name
        The following may or may not appear ..
        # The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
        ::1     localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
        fe00::0 ip6-localnet
        ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
        ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
        ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
        ff02::3 ip6-allhosts
        rich at tux:~$ netstat -r
