When they have the mindshare and put in the resources to manage
GNOME, Firefox, etc... policies. Most are ignorant. Yet others think
Linux cannot be "locked down" and "centrally managed." Breaking
such ignorance is not only an issue, but commonplace with even just
Firefox on Windows instead of MS IE.
I continue to believe desktop virtualization will change much of this.
Being able to better manage, better support and perform well on
thin clients with both Windows and Linux as peer options is going to
do wonders for such considerations (let alone on cost versus other
solutions/protocols that only do Windows). If you haven't kept up,
Red Hat just secured the IP to open source SPICE last month.
While most people have been tripping over themselves on Xen v.
KVM arguments after Red Hat acquired Qumranet (upstream developer
of KVM), people forget Qumranet has many, many different
technologies that Red Hat has or is moving to GPL as fast as it can
secure (as usual after an acquisition).

Well, yes, but the REAL statistic that matters is:
When are IT Departments going to quit Forcing Windows Down Our Throats
on the Desktop?
