[Novalug] ubuntu nfs/samba files in use or read only from windows

Greetings friends,

I have a Ubuntu server that is working fine except my samba share from
windows to box has a lot of read problems like "file is being used by
another program" stuff.  I can connect and see files and folders but when I
open from windows I cant save files, like they are read only even if I chmod
777 em. I need to do changes alot via windows so I am open to advice. Right
now I tunnel in via ssh to edit files and that works fine.

I did notice that I was running samba w/o NFS. It did work for a while but
just lately im getting the "file is in use" stuff.
