 	Easy to believe. The local phone company ran a cable 
(fiber, I think) years ago up the little rural back road where my 
in-laws live in East Tennessee -- and they still have dialup 
only.

 	A phone co-op in the next county brought wireless 
broadband to Blacksburg a few years ago. I grabbed it at once, 
and was well pleased while it lasted; but after two or three 
years they dropped it, and I'm now stuck with Comcast.
