I'm not sure what version of OO.org you're using, but at least in 3.2.1 (the
version I'm running), the Find & Replace dialog (Edit > Find & Replace) has a
More Options button at the bottom. Click that and you should see a checkbox that
will allow the Find & Replace tool to use regular expressions. That's probably
the easiest way to get OO.org to search for special characters like tabs and
carriage returns.

Alternatively, you could perhaps hunt for your specific character in OO.org's
character map (Insert > Special Character)... but that's probably more trouble
than it's worth.
