There are motivations...many of them involve people like me managing 
hundreds/thousands of Linux systems in data centers. Our motivations, 
coupled with the time we spend writing code, money and equipment we donate 
to others, far outweigh your desires to keep those changes out.

You do have choices:
- fork the project, removing those features you don't want
- write the code necessary to disable the features you don't want and 
submit those changes back to the community
- if you don't have the knowledge to do either, hire someone to do one of 
the above

In many cases, you can "compile out" certain features of software with the 
right ./configure switches.
