List,

This is a Charlie the Perpetual Newbie type question. (My life is a long
series of senior moments.)

Until recently I had to use an inkjet printer. Now, however, I am able to
use a laser printer. So far, everything I have printed with it has been
through clicking on something.

The latest "now" is that printing is a lot cheaper so I feel comfortable
printing more often. And I expect to use lpr from the command line. so:

  lpr -P? file-to-be-printed

With the inkjet the printer name was something like HPPhotosmartC3180. I
guess that was an arbitrary name, something I keyed in.

(a) Is that correct? and

(b) Can anyone give me an idea where I should put in the name of the laser
printer? The name would be something like hpLaserJetP1006.

(c) Also, is this related to the long thread, which I haven't read but
haven't deleted, either, about device naming.

Charlie
