I had to reread your message twice because I kept thinking it was a job 
interview question or something. That statement, to me, is total flame 
bait. Maybe you can argue PHP is better in some instances, maybe you 
can't but its really 'right tool, right job, right person'. Example, 
stopped in a Graybar this week to have someone tell me they really loved 
the Klein tool screwdrivers, better then the ones I had in my tool box. 
Mine are SnapOn. I could have started a holy tool war, but eh, whatever. 
:-) I'd just chalk it up as the usual arguments.

Not that learning another language is ever a bad thing, but know your 
strengths and perl is a very good strength.
