S-Video is video only. You will need to connect an audio cable from the
STB to the audio input of the capture card.

You can drive mythtv with the mouse.

The channel changing script needs to access your STB somehow. The method
for doing this depends on the STB and what connection you have to it.
Some STB devices use a serial input cable, others you have to have some
sort of IR blaster device to send codes to the device. They MythTV site
and the LIRC site have information on such IR control devices.
