[Novalug] Unity problem

Okay, running Ubuntu 11.10 with the Unity desktop. Everything was working 
great for months, then recently (within the last week) two really annoying 
issues cropped up:

- Empathy "forgets" my IM accounts. Every time I log in, I have to add my 
IM accounts (I installed Pidgen as a workaround but see next item.)
- When I launch some programs (currently, Pidgin and Rhythmbox) the main 
window never reveals. The program does run but I can't get the window to 
show up - it's like it's permanently hidden. Once in a while, the window 
will show up (after much open/close/open/close/etc.)

I know there were some Unity updates applied in the past week. I don't 
recall any Empathy or Rhythmbox updates.

Anyone else seen anything like this?
