For my Linux-mint (as I don't currently have the latest Ubuntu running) it's

 Applications->System Tools->System Settings->Networking

Or at the terminal prompt it's: (these are two different ways to handle the
same thing)
  sudo nm-connection-editor

{ there may even be a "Network Connection" menu enter somewhere }

  Select the network connection click (edit) - IP4 settings
To add/edit local HOST(s) (and have them be effective) you'd first have to
switch from    Automatic DHCP mode.

 yelp Only "system-config" on Linux-mint (at the prompt)
is system-config-printer

Me personally I handle hostnames on/with my HUB/router as that way I don't
have to configure/(pass around a file/update on) each computer. In fact
most of my machines now publish there own hostname to the hub bya dhcp.

Why I'm currently running either Linux-mint or BodhiLinux instead of the
Latest Ubuntu is I don't care for Gnome 3 at all.
   Linux-mint - seem to come by default a little more complete, but then a
little overloaded so you have to uninstall what you don't need want.

   BodhiLinux - Uses Enlightenment by default (which I like) but then you
have to select install other parts to get a complete FAST system.
