You should be able to see the card listed using either the lspci or 
lsusb comamnds. Most internal wifi cards are mini-pci or mini-pci-e 
which lspci will show. I've seen a couple of laptops that used the usb 
bus for wifi so lsusb is another command worth trying if lspci does not 
yield results.
