indeed, but i don't think the original writer was worried about that.
basically, he'd still be able to run all his favorite linux commands
such as ls, df, grep, mv, cp, rm, and so on. once it's been mounted as
a filesystem regardless of whether or not it's nfs or cifs it'll just
be a bunch of files under a particular directory.
but you make a good point, if he's afraid of CIFS or wants NFS then he
should definitely make sure that any particular NAS he buys supports
those features.
