[Novalug] question for Saturday?

List,

On my desk top computer, running Ubuntu 11.10, I used to be able
to pick up clips that play in the Firefox browser. I'd go to
.mozilla/firefox/some-garbage-number/Cache, and then find out which
file came in last, and which was constantly increasing. Then, after checking
its type (with 'file') I would move it to another directory where it
would stay.

I could not do that with my portable computer, running what to me seemed the
identical version of Ubuntu. There, the 'Cache' directory has a whole
slew of single-letter subdirectories, for which it is unclear which one
would
receive the file. Instead, I see files called named _CACHE_001_ and such,
none of which seem to be flash files, mpgs, or whichever format the clip
has.

Now, after an upgrade of my desktop computer I see the same thing as on the
portable, so I can no longer get these clips.

I think I asked the question before, but it had no solution. If other
people are also interested, it may be a nice topic for Saturday.

Nino
