[Novalug] Need advice on colo space..

How often, are you getting this data, daily? On most drives transfer rates average between 40-50MB/s, which is roughly around 4.2TB a day, so transferring 2TB of data, will still take 12 hours. Actually it sounds like you’re loading data, I guess this would be the best solution. I mean, what might be beneficial is doing a sync as you get the data, unless it’s like a dump file.
Say it takes 12 hours to put the data on to the drive, 12 hours to load, total 24 hours plus commute.
If you are collectively getting the data at intervals, the best thing might be to do a sync, like this directory needs to be imported, sync that directory so it’s already on the server when you need to transfer it. Just something to think about.

I don't have time to ship the drive, the customer needs to get the data on the server as fast as possible, that's why I am looking for access to the server at the colo. Total data would be a couple of terabytes.

What's the total amount of data you're planning on storing?
AWS has an Import/Export product where you ship them a drive, and they
securely import it to an S3 or EBS volume for cheaper than uploading
it to the cloud yourself.
http://aws.amazon.com/importexport/
This may be cheaper than a colo.
