I hate to pester here, but I would like to know if this is on my end. I saw
another thread about fonts, but appeared to be a different issue. I'm
spinning wheels trying to get this working. If someone else could let me
know what it looks like on their end, it would be a big help.

IIRC, Xfs is not necessary, nor is it necessary to have a font server running
with my X. Is this correct? I've attempted variations of all of
combinations in the off chance that might do the trick. No progress was
made.
