emacs speaks statistics

Even worse -- while I've been lax in upgrading ESS as an XEmacs
package (to 5.2.0beta3), the version in XEmacs is 5.1.21, which is
newer than 5.1.20, which is pretty broken and ancient.

I'd suggest either the one in XEmacs or the latest.
