This is a thread from April. I've now resolved the issue. As near as I
can tell, here's what happened (I tried to reply to this thread earlier,
but nothing appears to have been sent, so here goes again)... I believe
that I had the SUNWaudmo package installed when I was running Solaris 8.
I've since upgraded to Solaris 9 where the SUNWaudmo package no longer
exists, but vestiges remain. Either SUNWaudmo never contained anything
more than the libraries themselves, or everything else was lost in the
upgrade (most likely the former). So working libraries exist for
libaudiofile and ESD (among others, like libao), but there are no
headers, pkg-configs, etc. Nevertheless, the "hack" above appears to
work fine for 21.4.19. Possibly, dumb luck was at work there, since it
does not work for 21.4.20.

So, the right thing to do is to install fresh versions of libaudiofile
and ESD. Then, everything works the way it should with:

configure --with-sound=esd

Thanks,

Rodney
