Fatal error: assertion failed, file buffer.h, line 818 when fontify regex.c

I attached the configure output and build output and their diffs for
the bad and good ones.

It seems there're two files and two warnings are only compiled/occur 
when using malloc shipped with xemacs (default configure option).
