They can't, which is why I don't assign anything to FSF - FSF could be
taken over, and withdraw all the licences. The whole GPL concept is a
challenge to legal theory, and there's not much in the way of hard
case law to back it up.
Of course as a matter of practice, courts try hard to be sensible, and
they'd probably find a way to make existing licences still valid - but
it would be a non-trivial legal exercise, and jurisdiction dependent.
