[Bug: 21.5-b29] ediff "= h" doesn't mark sessions for hiding

Dear Bug Team!
I'm on Fedora 11, using their XEmacs rpm via yum.
The key bindings for ediff seem to have changed recently. Previously, typing "= h" marked equal entries for hiding but this doesn't happen now.
The key bindings are:
= = ediff-meta-mark-equal-files
= h ediff-meta-mark-equal-files
= m ediff-meta-mark-equal-files
The same function is called for each.
Looking at the function definition (excuse me if I'm using the wrong terms, I'm a C head and only toe-dipping in Lisp):
(defun ediff-meta-mark-equal-files (&optional action)
"Run through the session list and mark identical files.
This is used only for sessions that involve 2 or 3 files at the same time.
ACTION is an optional argument that can be ?h, ?m, ?=, to mark for hiding, mark
for operation, or simply indicate which are equal files. If it is nil, then
`last-command-event' is used to decide which action to take."
So it looks like an argument is required to indicate hiding. Should the "= h" and "= m" binding be changed to some lambda magic defined in the ".xemacs/" files or is there some other way to transmit an argument?
