vm looks for vcard-api-version - not defined

I believe that VM 8.0.x releases always shipped with vcard.el api-version 2.0.  Given that there is an explicit check in VM for the version number, I would expect that VM depends on the new version.  I guess the question then is whether the Gnus package is able to work with the new vcard.el.
