Endless loop using new outline mode!? (was: [AC] Replace our outline.el by org-mode's noutline.el)

I confess that this is not a good error report but let's call it an
observation instead. 

Using the latest outline mode causes XEmacs to go into an endless loop
(adding glyphs!?) My setup is the latest beta of both the 21.5 binary
and the packages. The packages are compiled with the very same beta
binary.

I'll see if I can come up with some better report later.
