You're the proponent. You tell me.
I'm telling you that my (daily) experience with the Mac is that (like
Mule) it decides what the language environment is and then it's damn
hard to tweak things the way the user wants them. I don't want that
to happen to XEmacs.
I know that in the absence of a LANG or any LC_* variables in the
environment Mac apps will obey some locale other than C/POSIX. I
don't think that's appropriate behavior for XEmacs, and it definitely
is not a change that should be made without discussion.
