OK, I'm good to go, subject to some test cases to make sure the
regexps used actually catch what we expect them to.

Maybe a comment pointing to the archive of the message I'm replying to
in case somebody actually needs that algorithm someday.  Given that
there are ways to get around it, even if deprecated, better be safe.
