You'll like MetaTrader because the platform is free and relatively easy to use.  If you have ever had a chance of building and running your own automatic trading system, this has got to be it!  Again, the platform is free, and almost every broker offers a demo account.  This means, with no cost (except your time), you can build, run and test your own automated trading system.  This is truly a fantastic opportunity!

Currently, there are two versions of MetaTrader available: 3.8 and 4.0. Version 3.8 supports a language that is pretty simple and easy to learn; it has been used for quite a while, and as a result, most of the bugs have been resolved. Version 4.0 is much more powerful than 3.8. Since 4.0 is relatively new, bugs are still being found. However, it won't be long before version 4.0 is as stable, or even more stable than version 3.8.

Now the only thing standing between you and a profitable trading system is your willingness to learn and to work.  Is building a profitable system easy? No way! But with determination - and a few clever ideas - it can be done.

It is important to remember that MetaTrader is just a tool - a tool to be used on the FOREX market.  Becoming proficient with this tool will not guarantee success.  Using this tool is and should be trivial.  The real value is in developing ideas that give you an edge in the FX market.  This being said, the more proficient you are with the tools, the faster you can evaluate your ideas (and throw out the bad ones!)
