Problems accessing XEmacs CVS via rsync (server) and CVS over SSH

To the staff:
I'm an XEmacs developer, with some privileges on cvs.xemacs.org, which
is a CNAME for a dotsrc host.
Up until Sept 7 Japan time, I was able to access these resources as
usual. Since then, a direct login by "ssh turnbull at cvs.xemacs.org"
fails with "permission denied", an attempt to do cvs update with the
command "CVS_RSH=ssh cvs -d :ext:xemacs at cvs.xemacs.org:/pack/xemacscvs
update" fails with "permission denied", and an attempt to update my
local repository mirror with rsync (see the attached script
"rsync.sh") fails for unclear reasons. (Examples of failure and
success attempts as reported by cron are attached.)
Please investigate.
