hi yhslug community -

at my public library job i like to stay informed about news from many news
sources. so on my ubuntu box, i use the firefox extension called linky to open
multiple news web sites with just one or two mouse clicks.

i've assembled the news web sites i read at
http://www.writersforliteracy.org/newsthump.html

i learned that firefox locks up when you open more than 20 tabs at once,
so i usually open about 15 at once.

linky lets you open multiple links from the same web page in different
tabs. to do so, right mouse click on any link. (on a single-button mac mouse,
use control-click or option-click --one of those two.)

then throughout my work day i can easily reload these web sites by right
clicking on one of the tabs. so if i need to run off to the bathroom, i can load
multiple news web sites before i go to the bathroom and have them all loaded
when i return a minute or two later.

hope this tip is helpful to others.

                - phil

btw, in case you're curious what the word "newsthump" means, ask google. you'll
reach a short play i wrote titled "News Thump."
