[Yhslug] scanner for use with an ubuntu desktop

hi yhslug community,

   at the public library where i work (takoma park maryland library), we'd like
to buy a flatbed scanner (usb) for use with the ubuntu desktop on my desk. this
would be light, occasional scanning.

     anyone have any recommendations of ubuntu compatible scanners?
