I haven't attended an install fest before, but I've made a few
suggestions below based on my Linux/Ubuntu experiences. I think
Thursday would be ok, so I may be able to come help.

I wouldn't recommend 5.10 anymore. 6.06 is the most solid and Canonical
offers long-term support. 6.10 has newer software, though there may be
some rough edges for new users due to its rushed development. Either
6.06 or 6.10 should be a better option than 5.10 for a new installation.

Also, I'd recommend having at least one of the "Alternate" install CDs
available. Computers with less than about 192 MB of RAM may not be able
to boot the Live CD, so the Alternate CD can be used to install Ubuntu
from a text-mode interface. Having a computer with CD burner and
pre-downloaded images for other install discs like the AMD64 or PowerPC
images, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, or Server images would also help if people
need any of these.

Is there a WiFi network available from the room? If not, try to have a
wireless router on-hand so that users with wireless cards can make sure
that the necessary drivers are installed and set up. Wireless and video
card setup are probably the two things most likely to need some "expert"
help, so users should be able to verify these before they head home.

Food is usually a good way to motivate college students :)

Yeah, having some CDs so you can burn different/extra install discs is a
good idea.

Yeah, you'll probably want to get email addresses to let people know
about future events.
